Ich habe einen Masterabschluss in Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie von der Universität zu Köln sowie zwei Bachelorabschlüsse in Regionalstudien Lateinamerika und Politikwissenschaft sowie in Spanisch und Geschichte. Ein Erasmus-Semester an der Universidad Autónoma de Madrid hat meinen Blick zusätzlich erweitert. Für mich vereint die Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie die unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkte, mit denen ich mich in meinem Studium beschäftigt habe, und verbindet meine Interessen an Politik, Bildung, Geschichte und Kultur in einem gemeinsamen Forschungsfeld.

Während meines Werdegangs habe ich als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Global South Studies Center und am Institut für Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie gearbeitet und ein Seminar zur Museumsanthropologie an der Universität zu Köln gelehrt. Als Stipendiatin des Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds habe ich zudem öffentliche Vorträge gehalten und Museumsführungen geleitet. Diese Erfahrungen haben meinen Blick darauf geschärft, dass Museen nicht nur Orte der Wissensvermittlung sind, sondern auch Arenen, in denen Fragen von Gerechtigkeit, Teilhabe und Ausschluss sichtbar und verhandelbar werden.

In meinem Promotionsprojekt Which issues – which publics? Postcolonial museum struggles in three different settings (Arbeitstitel) untersuche ich affektive Öffentlichkeiten in und um Museen an der Schnittstelle von institutionalisierten Wissensordnungen und gesellschaftspolitischen Transformationen. Ich analysiere, wie zivilgesellschaftliches Engagement in und durch Museumsvereine institutionelle Praktiken und Öffentlichkeiten in Deutschland, den USA und Barbados prägt – drei Kontexte, die jeweils von spezifischen Wissensordnungen, Machtasymmetrien und postkolonialen Auseinandersetzungen gekennzeichnet sind. Durch das Nachzeichnen verbindender und ausschließender Affektivität möchte ich sowohl kritisch als auch konstruktiv zu Debatten über Museumszukünfte, Partizipation und die Transformation demokratischer Gesellschaften beitragen. Dabei sehe ich mich zugleich als kritische Forscherin und als Brückenbauerin zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft.

I hold an MA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Cologne, as well as dual BAs in Latin American Regional Studies and Political Science, and in Spanish and History. During my studies, I spent an Erasmus semester at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Social and Cultural Anthropology brings together the different academic paths I have taken, allowing me to connect my interests in politics, education, history, and culture within one field of research.

In my academic journey, I have worked as a research assistant at the Global South Studies Center and the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, and I have taught a seminar on museum anthropology at the University of Cologne. I also received a scholarship from the Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds, through which I gave public talks and guided museum tours. These experiences strengthened my conviction that museums are not only institutions of knowledge but also arenas where questions of justice, inclusion, and exclusion become tangible.

In my PhD project, Which issues – which publics? Postcolonial museum struggles in three different settings (working title), I investigate affective publics in and around museums at the intersection of institutionalized knowledge regimes and socio-political transformations. I explore how civic engagement in and by museum support associations shapes institutional practices and publics in Germany, the US, and Barbados – three contexts marked by distinct epistemic orders, power asymmetries, and postcolonial struggles. By tracing connecting and excluding affectivities, I aim to contribute both critically and constructively to debates on museum futures, participation, and the transformation of democratic societies. I see myself as both a critical researcher and a bridge-builder between academic inquiry and broader societal engagement.
